Since 2005, SDA has presented a scholarship at the annual Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School awards. This year, due to a power outage, that ceremony was interrupted. But that won’t stop us from celebrating our recipient! Here’s what would have been said:

MC: “Presenting the Selkirk Dance Scholarship/Bursary is Alycia Campbell”

Ms. Alycia: “The Selkirk Dance Scholarship/Bursary recipient danced since she was 5 years old at SDA. When asked to write about who her role model was, it was her dance teacher Ms. Alycia. She has been dancing under her mentorship since she started and has always appreciated Ms Alycia for pushing her to be the best version of herself. And for this dance instructor the feeling is mutual. This dancer reminded me weekly of what hard work looks like, the level of determination it takes to pursue your dreams and the fierce follow through required to keep showing up for something that drives your passion. I hope she never forgets what it feels like to follow through on those dreams and continues to keep chasing them. Please help be congratulate, Alexis Christie!!”
